The Trinity

The Trinity is one God existing in three persons. God the Father is fully God, Christ Jesus is fully God, and the Holy Spirit is fully God. Christians call this, the TRIUNE God. Tri meaning three, and the word une, meaning one. Triune means three in one. I believe the more you learn Gods Word, the better you understand who God is. Someone that doesn’t understand anything about God or is an unbeliever, will not understand how God can be three in one. Here are some scriptures that help explain the Trinity.

The Father being God:

1 Peter 1:2 - …elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

John 6:27 - Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.

Romans 1:7 - To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Son Christ Jesus being God:

John 1:1 - The Eternal Word: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 - The Word Becomes Flesh: And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

1 John 5:20 - And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

Colossians 2:9 - - For in Him, dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

Romans 9:5 - of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.

Hebrews 1:8 - But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

The Holy Spirit being God:

1 Corinthians 3:16 - Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

Acts 5:3-4 - But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.

Here are some really cool interesting facts in the bible about the Trinity. Take a look! The members of the Trinity are clearly distinguished from one another in many scriptures of the bible. In Genesis 1:1, the Hebrew word for God is a plural noun "Elohim".

In Genesis 1:26 it says, Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Genesis 11:7 - Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

Look at this! Isaiah 6:8 says, Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” How cool is that! This shows the plurality of God once again when it says “Us”!

In Isaiah 48:16 it says, “Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; From the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord God and His Spirit Have sent Me.”

Isaiah 61:1 - The Good News of Salvation: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound.

Wow it’s just amazing to me that the trinity is all over the Bible. In this scripture the Son is speaking while making reference to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for your revelation of who you are.

In Matthew 3:16-17 it says, “When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” this scripture describes the event of Jesus' baptism. God the Holy Spirit is descending on God the Son, while God the Father proclaims His pleasure in the Son. Could the Trinity be any clearer than it already is? Haha please excuse my overwhelming amazement of God. He is so awesome!

Matthew 28:19 - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 13:14 - The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

In Psalm 2:7 it shows that the Lord has a Son. The scripture says, I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.

Psalm 51:10-12 – “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.” In this scripture God the Son is distinguished from God the Father.

In John 14:16-17 it says, And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. Jesus cares about us so much that He speaks to the Father about sending a Helper to us, the Holy Spirit. This shows that Jesus did not consider Himself to be the Father or the Holy Spirit. Consider also all the other times in the Gospels where Jesus speaks to the Father. Was He speaking to Himself? No. He spoke to another Person in the Trinity which would be the Father!

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out! For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?” Romans 11:33-34

Can you see who God is yet? Us Christians worship a Triune God. He loves us so much He wants us to know who He is. All these scriptures above, shows us the trinity and who He is.
